Day 62: Ottumwa, Iowa

Monday, 7/8/2019
Miles: 48.8
Average speed: 9.6 mph
Vertical gain: 1,648 ft.
Current Elevation: 673 ft.

Today was a really good day, beautiful weather, not too hot, pleasant riding, not too long of a day.

I arrived here in Ottumwa at around 4:00, looking for a motel, when I saw there was a town-owned campsite right in the center of town. So I got a campsite and set up my tent. (Consequently, with no electricity, I am now in airplane mode. This will get published on Tuesday morning.)

I then rode my bike about a mile and a quarter to dinner, at Burger King. What a guilty pleasure!

Then I did something I have not yet done on this trip – I went to a movie! I saw Toy Story 4. As with all the Toy Story movies, it was incredibly excellent, and I highly recommend it for the adults, as well as the kids.

Since I am actually finishing this blog, and publishing it, the next morning, I can give the morning update. I slept fairly well in my tent, and the bugs were not bad. I was up early, like 5 a.m. So I packed up, and I’m getting ready to leave. I should be riding by 6:15, my earliest start of the trip. It looks to be a beautiful day.
